The Secret Note: Your Key to Privacy
The Secret Note is the single most important piece of information generated when you use Gone.wtf. You must understand what it is and how to handle it securely.
What is the Secret Note?
Think of the Secret Note as the private key for your deposited funds. It is a unique string of text that looks something like this:
gone-0.2.0-a1b2c3d4e5f6...

This note contains the cryptographic information required to generate a ZK-proof and authorize a withdrawal.
CRITICAL: Security and Backup
Sole Access to Funds: The note is the ONLY way to access your funds. If you lose it, your funds are permanently and irretrievably lost. There is no recovery mechanism.
Non-Custodial: We do not store your note and have no way to recover it for you. This is a deliberate security design that ensures only you can control your assets.
Backup Immediately: As soon as you receive your note after depositing, save it in a secure, offline location.
Good: A trusted password manager (1Password, Bitwarden).
Better: An encrypted text file on an external drive.
Best: Stored physically, disconnected from the internet.
Never Share It: Anyone who has your note can withdraw your funds. Treat it with the same level of security as a hardware wallet's seed phrase.
